THE SCHOOL:

Ebenezer Baptist Christian School is a faith-based elementary school located in the Teshie-Nungua Estates. It was founded in January 2004 and has about 700 learners supported by some 50 staff. The vision of the school is to be an ultimate academic destination for developing Christ–like leaders. The school exists to provide an enabling teaching and learning environment that nurtures students into academically versed, spiritually-minded, and community-engaged citizens for God’s glory. The core values of the school are Faith in Christ, Academic Excellence, Innovation, Teamwork and Honour. 


POSITION DESCRIPTION

The Principal serves as the educational leader, responsible for managing the policies, regulations, and procedures to ensure that all students are supervised in a safe learning environment that meets the approved curricula and mission of the school. He/She is responsible for the school's overall operational and financial management and reports to the Board.

Achieving academic excellence requires that the Principal will work collaboratively to direct and nurture all school staff members and communicate effectively with parents. Inherent in the position are scheduling, curriculum development, extracurricular activities, personnel management, emergency procedures, and facility operations.


JOB SUMMARY/RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Manage, evaluate, and supervise effective and clear procedures for the school's operation and functioning consistent with the school's philosophy, mission, values, and goals.
  • Establish the annual master schedule for instructional programmes, ensuring sequential learning experiences for students
  • Ensure compliance with all laws, board policies and civil regulations.
  • Supervise the school's instructional programmes, evaluating lesson plans and observing classes (teaching, as duties allow) regularly to encourage the use of a variety of instructional strategies and materials consistent with research on learning and child growth and development.
  • Oversight responsibility for financial management. Ensure prudent maintenance and accounting for all student activity funds and money collected from students
  • Keep the staff informed and seek ideas for the improvement of the school. Conduct meetings, as necessary,for the proper functioning of the school: weekly meetings for full-time staff; monthly staff meetings.
  • Establish procedures for safe storing and integrity of all public and confidential school records. Ensure that student records are complete and current.
  • Assume responsibility for students, employees, and visitors' health, safety, and welfare.
  • Establish a professional rapport with students and with staff that has their respect. Display the highest ethical and professional behavior and standards when working with students, parents and school personnel. Must encourage all teachers to do the same.
  • Communicate regularly with parents to create a cooperative relationship to support the student at the school.
  • Communicate regularly with the Board about the needs, successes, and general operation of the school.
  • Supervise in a fair and consistent manner effective discipline and attendance systems with high standards, consistent with the philosophy, values, and mission of the school.
  • Ensure a safe, orderly environment that encourages students to take responsibility for their behaviour and creates high morale among staff and students.
  • File all required reports regarding violence, vandalism, attendance and discipline matters.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Must possess a degree in a relevant field of study. A master's degree (post-graduate qualification) is an advantage
  • Minimum of 10 years of teaching experience with at least 4 years in a management role as an Assistant or headteacher.
  • Complete knowledge of Ghana's education system requirements pertaining to the provision of quality education for children
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
