The Mojaloop Foundation’s mission is to increase financial inclusion by empowering organizations creating interoperable payments§ systems to enable digital financial services for all. Through advocacy, community development, and hands-on engagement, the Foundation supports the adoption of Mojaloop, an open-source software that serves as a reference model for creating interoperable payments platforms connecting all digital financial providers and customers, especially the financially excluded

We are recruiting a Director of Marketing to drive the Mojaloop’s communication and branding globally. This is an exciting position, playing a key role in driving the adoption of Mojaloop and addressing the critical challenges faced by local underserved populations. Accompanied by a deep understanding of payments and the financial ecosystem in Sub-Saharan Africa and emerging markets, the right candidate will lead the development of a broad marketing strategy targeting the various communities, programs, and personas within the Mojaloop ecosystem. You will engage with governments, financial institutions, NGO’s, and other payment system stakeholders globally, to increase the visibility and understanding of the Mojaloop platform and vision.


Responsibilities

  • Develop a coordinated marketing strategy across communities, programs, and personas, aimed at increasing the visibility and understanding of the Mojaloop platform and vision
  • Define target audiences and structured, bespoke campaigns targeted at those audiences utilizing tailored channels & messaging
  • Build understanding and framework of the diverse set of personas in the Mojaloop ecosystem, tailoring communication campaigns to their areas of focus and interests
  • Work in close coordination with the Mojaloop GTM and other Mojaloop teams in the creation and updating of communications collateral
  • Coordinate join marketing activities with strategic partners (BMGF, AN, etc.)
  • Coordinate with internal design team on tactical elements (social media, website, speaking engagements, content production), as well as build roster of outside agencies and resources to create compelling content
  • Review all presentations, blogs, social media posts and other external materials for alignment to marketing strategy
  • Provide basic copywriting and design for presentations and short papers

Skills & Qualifications

  • Must have domain experience in payments, financial inclusion, and the financial ecosystem in Sub-Saharan Africa
  • Experience building strategic communication campaigns, while managing the execution of multiple, independent campaigns simultaneously
  • Passion for the positive social impact of financial inclusion and how sovereign Inclusive IPSs can help achieve
  • Ability to think strategically - considering market dynamics, customer behaviours and wider industry developments to inform long-term organizational vision & strategy
  • Stellar communication skills with an eye for compelling design
  • Fluency in English, whilst French language skills will be an advantage
