This position will report to the Hoyle Pond Maintenance Electrical Supervisor. 


Purpose

Newmont Porcupine Gold Mines are looking for a skilled Electrician to join our team at the Hoyle Pond mine site. The successful applicant must have worked in an industrial environment. 


Essential Duties

  • Responsible for troubleshooting, disassembling, repairing, and performing predictive and preventive maintenance on underground and instrumentation equipment.
  • Responsible for compliance with OHSA, Corporate and Porcupine Environmental Regulations, Safety and Sustainability Standards and the Electrical Safety Authority
  • Responsible to work collaboratively with others to achieve organizational goals both within the department and cross-department
  • Must be highly motivated, organized and must be capable of decision-making
  • Responsible for providing own tools
  • Assisting in other works areas may be required
  • Available to work Dayshift and Nightshift

Training & Experience

  • Must hold an Ontario Construction and Maintenance or Industrial Electrician License; 309A or 442A
  • Knowledge of the ESA Z462 Workplace Electrical Safety and CSA M421 Standards
  • Familiar with underground communication systems
  • Understand networking, fiber optics, remote control technologies, PLC’s/ DCS and 
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal and written skills
  • High level of organizational skill
  • Be technically competent
  • Willing to learn and able to listen
  • Comfortable working alone
  • Underground experience 
     


Working Conditions

  • This position is part of the Hoyle Underground Maintenance team located at our Porcupine Mine Site near Timmins, ON.
  • In this role, you will work a 5x5x4 schedule.  As such, if you do not live near the mine site, we will require relocation.
